Demographics

As of the census^[5] of 2020, there were 1,317 people, 696 households, and 382 families living in the town. The population density was 32.3 inhabitants per square mile (12.5/km²). There were 620 housing units at an average density of 15.3 per square mile (5.9/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 98.1% White, 0.9% African American, 0.1% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.1% from other races, and 0.6% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.5% of the population.

There were 696 households, of which 29.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.2% were married couples living together, 6.8% had a female householder with no husband present, 4.0% had a male householder with no wife present, and 28.1% were non-families. 19.4% of all households were made up of individuals, and 5.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.46 and the average family size was 2.80.

The median age in the town was 43.1 years. 22.2% of residents were under the age of 18; 5.1% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 25.6% were from 25 to 44; 33.9% were from 45 to 64; and 13.2% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the town was 49.7% male and 50.3% female.20
